OrindaReady.com

Looking for a one-stop-shop for all of your emergency preparation resources? Well, if you are resident of Orinda, (and even if your not!) you can find it at orindaready.com. Launched in November of 2025, this new website managed by the City of Orinda is quickly becoming the most visited site hosted by the City. The goal with OrindaReady.com is to create a centralized platform, organizing information and resources by issue or subject, aiming to make it easier for residents to find the resources most valuable to them.

Planning

Worried about how to prepare for an emergency, but don’t know where to start? orindaready.com has you covered. This page has easy-to-follow lists on packing “go-bags”, making a plan, signing up for emergency alerts, and tips on what to expect in an evacuation.

Evacuation Modeling

The site incorporates information to help residents plan for earthquakes and wildfires, as well as tips on planning for evacuation. One of the most compelling resources is the Ladris Evacuation Model. The tool allows the user to run different evacuation simulations to better understand what your options are in an actual emergency. There are also Live Fire Cameras, which allow users to see different areas of the community and monitor the progress of a fire, should one occur.

Wildfire Preparation

Another issue that can cause “paralysis by analysis” is how to prepare your property for wildfire. With links on Fire Fuel Reduction, Home Hardening, and Water Conservation, orindaready.com, has a comprehensive list of valuable resources. Not only do they cover how to prepare, but also ways to access grant funding to help cover the costs. Orinda’s Measure R Fire Fuels Reduction Incentive Program, Fire Safe Moraga-Orinda’s Group and Vulnerable Residents’ Programs, along with County programs are listed for easy access. There are also links to order Moraga Orinda Fire District’s free home hardening materials.

Insurance

The home insurance market continues to be a challenge for many Orinda residents. Orindaready.com offers tips on preparing your home (often required by the FAIR Plan) for wildfire. There are links to the FAIR Plan and the California Department of Insurance’s “Safer From Wildfire” resource website. If you are on the FAIR Plan or are underinsured due to non-renewal, preparing your home is the most critical thing you can do. It may be the only thing standing between you and a wildfire…literally!
