Send In The Goats!

The City of Orinda used a popular method for vegetation management - Goats! The lovable weed munchers made quick work of some of Orinda’s hillsides.

They returned to Orinda Oaks Park Open Space on August 16th and spent three weeks helping to reduce vegetation and wildfire risk through targeted grazing across 16.5 acres of the park.

Often viewed as an eco-friendly and low-impact option to mechanical equipment, the billys and also just plain fun to see. The herd was safely contained within temporary fencing and monitored by a shepherd as they grazed through designated areas.
