Orinda City Hall Implements OFC’s Suggestion

“The City Council just approved a no on street parking restriction on Red Flag Days along El Toyonal and Loma Vista Drive at their last meeting on 8/18/20. This is a pilot program that we are looking to implement as quickly as possible this season, and then monitor its effectiveness and impacts to fronting property owners. Staff is working together on its evacuation route plan and will be identifying key street corridors to expand this pilot program (if effective) to other streets. I think we can look at La Espiral for next year's 2021 wildfire season, however in the meantime we can ask our police officers and parking enforcement staff to drive through La Espiral now to identify any vehicles that are blocking the travel way (which is already a code we can enforce) that would affect two cars passing each other. The on street parking restrictions along El Toyonal and Loma Vista does have impacts on fronting property owners which needed to be methodically rolled out since it does not allow any on street parking within five feet of the City's paved roadway. This includes private off shoulder parking or potentially within a short driveway. “
